Hello from our team at The Star
Sulgrave is located in a South Northamptonshire conservation village, situated in undulating countryside close to the North Oxfordshire border.
Our pub is over 300 years old and one of our most important motivations when taking the pub on in November 2016 was to ensure The Star remained true to its roots, to be a traditional local inn serving great home cooked style meals prepared by our friendly team.
We have open fires and a huge beer garden. We hold regular food and drink themed events to bring the locals together and also have an Aunt Sally team,. This encourages villagers to get together once a week and compete against other local pubs throwing sticks at a Dolly.
We are lucky enough to have accommodation and boast 4 comfortable rooms which we offer on a bed and breakfast basis. Ideal for weddings held at Sulgrave Manor or a weekend break in the county.
We support local businesses and in an effort to do so, we use local suppliers such as our village shop, Brackley Butchers and a vegetable supplier just 3 miles away in Helmdon.
Things to do
We are in close proximity to many lovely places such as;
Just a stone's throw away is Sulgrave Manor which is a Tudor and Georgian house built by direct ancestors of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Discover how Civil War, financial ruin, and a shipwreck led to Washington’s great-grandfather seeking a fresh start in the New World. Also Sulgrave Manor is a very popular wedding venue and our rooms here at The Star Inn are a perfect place to rest your dancing feet.

Canons Ashby House
A tranquil Tudor manor house set in rare terraced gardens, with the 'antient' Dryden family at its heart. Built by the Drydens using the remains of a medieval priory, the house and gardens have survived largely unaltered since 1710 and are presented as they were during the time of Sir Henry Dryden, a Victorian antiquary, passionate about the past.
The warm, welcoming house features grand rooms, stunning tapestries and Jacobean plasterwork, contrasting with the domestic detail of the servants' quarters.
Stroll in the historic parkland and catch glimpses of early medieval landscapes, while a wander through the priory church reveals the story of the house canons of canon ashby.
